The IPM / Fertigation Specialist is responsible for the execution, monitoring, and continuous improvement of Integrated Pest Management (IPM), fertigation, and water management programs within the cultivation department. This role supports plant health, yield consistency, and regulatory compliance through disciplined scouting, nutrient management, environmental monitoring, and documentation. The IPM / Fertigation Specialist works closely with the Cultivation Manager and cultivation team to ensure plant inputs are applied safely, effectively, and in accordance with SOPs and regulatory requirements. 

This is a technical, hands-on role requiring strong plant science knowledge, attention to detail, and the ability to operate within a regulated production environment.

Essential Functions:
  • Execute and maintain the facility’s Integrated Pest Management (IPM) program, including routine scouting, pest and disease identification, threshold monitoring, and documentation. 
  • Apply approved biological, organic, or chemical treatments in accordance with SOPs, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements. 
  • Design, prepare, and execute fertigation schedules and nutrient recipes as directed, ensuring accurate mixing, dosing, and application. 
  • Monitor plant health indicators including growth rate, leaf color, root health, and signs of stress or deficiency. 
  • Collect and record EC, pH, PPM, and water quality data; identify trends and report deviations or risks to the Cultivation Manager. 
  • Maintain and operate fertigation systems, injectors, pumps, reservoirs, and irrigation equipment; perform routine inspections and basic troubleshooting. 
  • Support water purification and filtration systems, including RO systems, holding tanks, and sanitation protocols. 
  • Ensure proper storage, labeling, handling, and disposal of nutrients, pesticides, biologicals, and related materials. 
  • Maintain accurate IPM, fertigation, and environmental records to support compliance, audits, and operational reporting. 
  • Train cultivation staff on IPM best practices, fertigation procedures, sanitation standards, and safe handling of inputs. 
  • Collaborate with the cultivation team to adjust nutrient and IPM strategies based on cultivar performance, growth stage, and environmental conditions. 
  • Follow all safety protocols, PPE requirements, and hazard communication standards at all times. 


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Assist with cultivation activities as needed, including transplanting, canopy work, and harvest support. 
  • Support R&D trials related to nutrients, biological controls, cultivars, or application methods. 
  • Assist with inventory management of nutrients, IPM inputs, and water treatment supplies. 
  • Support sanitation and preventative maintenance activities related to irrigation and fertigation systems. 
  • Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance plant health, yield, and consistency. 
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support cultivation and facility operations. 


What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Agronomy, Plant Science, Horticulture, or related field. 
  • Experience in IPM, fertigation, plant nutrition, or cultivation operations at a licensed cannabis cultivation facility. 
  • Strong understanding of plant nutrition, pest and disease identification, and treatment methodologies. 
  • Experience handling fertilizers, biologicals, or pesticides in a regulated or safety-conscious environment. 
  • Experience with automated fertigation systems and environmental monitoring software. 
  • Applicator License, HAZWOPER preferred. 
  • Ability to accurately measure, mix, and document chemical and nutrient applications. 
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to documentation accuracy. 
  • Ability to work independently throughout the day according to instructions. 
  • Must be at least 21 years of age. 
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a valid state-issued TCUP badge. 
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation. 
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs, stand for extended periods, and work in variable environmental conditions (heat, humidity, PPE).
