The Cultivation Lead will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of their designated growing area and performing all the tasks in the growing process. This position will report to the Cultivation Supervisor.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Ensure safe work conditions and practices within the greenhouse by supporting adherence to company Safety, Health and Environmental policies
- Adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s) for Good Production Practices (GPP) and GMP
- Provide guidance to cultivation technician in the proper maintenance and care of mothers, propagations, young plants and flowering crops.
- Ensure that all employees receive proper training for the task at hand and the tasks are being completed according to the SOP’s.
- Delegate and supervise activities of cultivation team
- Help to ensure that the security measures are maintained
- Regularly communicate with management on updates, problems, or comments
Qualifications
- Degree or Diploma in horticulture, plant biology, biological sciences, agricultural science or similar fields
- Minimum 4 years of demonstrated supervisor/lead experience in large-scale greenhouse environments
- Demonstrated experience in a position requiring problem-solving
- Knowledge with GPP and GMP is preferred
- Possesses a strong understanding of plant nutrients and their deficiencies
- Able to effectively communicate with all types of staff, including laborers, technical, professional, and upper management
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, changing and challenging environment.
- Flexibility to adjust to shifting priorities and deadlines
Working conditions
- This is a greenhouse working environment, which may have continuous exposure to heat, light and humidity
- Maybe be required to work on weekends and during holidays, from time to time
- This position is physically demanding and requires the ability to lift/move heavy objects (up to 50lbs), standing and bending
At BZAM, we provide a competitive wage that is based on your experience and expertise. The hourly range for this position is $22-$24 per hour.
