The Role
The Operational Compliance Specialist will be the go-to liaison for assigned operational markets and/or specific compliance programs. This individual will provide support to the broader Asset Protection Solutions and Retail Operations teams through program support of Operational Compliance initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Lead weekly CPG Regulatory Inspections at Illinois CPG Locations.
- Have a working knowledge and understanding of the cannabis rules and regulations and company policies and procedures for assigned dispensaries.
- Contribute to the execution of our retail and CPG operations compliance program by supporting assigned retail and CPG markets and the programs that minimize regulatory compliance risk.
- Responsible for supporting the execution of assigned compliance programs and their integration into retail and CPG operations.
- Coordinate the deployment of operational policies and procedures, training, and support that ensure assigned retail and CPG markets align with the company’s regulatory framework.
- Coordinate the deployment of operational framework updates that ensure continuous improvements as regulations and store operations processes change.
- Coordinate the execution of a sustainable audit program for assigned areas that include self-assessments and dynamic management assessments of retail and CPG operations.
- Support policies, procedures, and retail processes through the deployment of technology, analytics, and continuous improvement for assigned programs and/or geographies.
- Coordinate assigned compliance program transitions and integrations for mergers and acquisitions.
- Periodically visit assigned sites to ensure all employees are performing processes and procedures accurately and ensure company is compliant.
- Support the enforcement of accountability for compliance actions and make continuous improvement recommendations to leadership.
- Support retail and CPG response and actively participate in the resolution of regulatory inquiries or issues for assigned areas.
- Establish and maintain good rapport with internal business contacts, peers, inspectors, state police and regulatory agencies in assigned areas.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree preferred
- Minimum 3+ years retail or CPG operations experience with a focus on compliance
- Knowledge of compliance in a highly regulated industry such as cannabis, pharmaceuticals, alcohol or tobacco preferred
- Proven project management skills tracking and completing long-term or ongoing tasks
- Skilled in communication with employees of all levels, from hourly workers to C suite executives
- Highly motivated, self-directed, innovative, and able to work independently or among teams with keen judgement, common sense and resourcefulness
- Adapts and thrives in a demanding, fast-paced environment
- Possesses a high level of critical thinking
- Operates with a high level of professionalism and integrity, including dealing with confidential information
- Working knowledge and understanding of the cannabis rules and regulations and company policies and procedures for assigned dispensaries
- Must understand and comply with the rules, regulations, policies, and procedures of Green Thumb
- Must have a solid understanding of the Cannabis laws, rules and regulations and passion to further their understanding and knowledge of the industry and the laws.
Additional Requirements
- Must pass all required background checks
- Must be and remain compliant with all legal or company regulations for working in the industry
- Must possess valid driver’s license
- Must be a minimum of 21 years of age
- Must be approved by state badging agency to work in cannabis industry
The pay range is competitive and based on experience, qualifications, and/or location of the role. Positions may be eligible for a discretionary annual incentive program driven by organization and individual performance.
Green Thumb Pay Range
$65,000—$80,000 USD
