Position Title: Machine Operator Technician
Shift: Monday - Friday, 6:00 am - 2:30 pm 
Location: Homestead, FL 


As a Machine Operator Technician, you’ll oversee the filling and packaging operations of cannabis products such as vaporizers, pre-rolls, and flower pre-packs. Your role ensures product integrity, operational efficiency, and adherence to safety standards. You are a handson operator who drives productivity to meet operational goals. This role requires a hands-on individual with technical expertise, strong communication skills, and the ability to work independently while coordinating with management and the maintenance team to ensure smooth operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Operate, change-over, clean, repair, maintain, and service equipment in the production department.
  • Monitor and report equipment failures and deficiencies to management in a timely manner.
  • Ensure all tools are maintained in a ready state.
  • Perform troubleshooting as necessary to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Production Technician to schedule and ensure completion of Preventative Maintenance (PM).
  • Collaborate with the Lead Production Technician to assist in the procurement and management of spare parts to reduce downtime.
  • Maintain detailed records of equipment performance.
  • Demonstrate initiative and problem-solving skills.
  • Ensure adherence to safety protocols and company policies.
  • Adapt to changing production schedules and work flexible hours, including different shifts, as needed.
  • Maintain effective communication with team members, leads, supervisors, and other departments both verbally and in writing.
  • Perform tasks requiring physical stamina, including climbing, working in confined spaces, and lifting heavy objects.
  • Foster a customer-oriented approach by addressing production needs efficiently and proactively.
  • Implement and uphold continuous improvement initiatives like 5S and waste reduction practices.
  • Ensure workplace safety and sanitation standards are met at all times.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align production with the demand plan and schedule.
  • Train new operators or assistants on basic operation of the machine.
  • Coordinate with equipment vendors and internal maintenance teams for advanced troubleshooting and repairs.

  • Willingness to obtain Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification within 90 days of hire.
  • Participate in structured training programs and demonstrate proficiency in machine operation before advancing to maintenance and troubleshooting responsibilities.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds unassisted.
  • Ability to sit, stand, and walk for long periods of time.
  • Ability to occasionally climb ladders and crawl under low spaces.
  • Ability to use a computer/look at a screen for long periods of time.
  • Ability to have close vision (able to read small print at 20 inches or less).
  • This position has allergen warnings - potential exposure to dust, pollen, and plant pathogens.

Qualifications & Skills

  • Proven experience working with manufacturing equipment is strongly preferred; internal candidates eager to learn and willing to undergo training will be considered.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills with the ability to make minor repairs.
  • Ability to work independently and take initiative.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills for both lateral and vertical interactions.
  • Physical capability to climb, work in confined spaces, and lift heavy objects as required.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations and best practices in an industrial setting.
  • Customer-focused mindset with a dedication to operational excellence.
  • Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) certification or willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
