Job Overview

We are seeking an HR Business Partner to support our Cannabis Operations Facilities, reporting to the Director, HR. You will guide leaders and employees through employee relations, investigations, leadership and employee development, and change management. Building key relationships with the Operations team, you’ll provide coaching, advice, and innovative HR solutions to achieve business objectives.

Role Requirements

  • Proactive approach and ownership mentality, willing to support both administrative tasks and complex initiatives.
  • Critical skills include professional discretion, confidentiality, problem-solving, organization, time management, and adaptability.

Scope of Role

  • Primary HR contact for business sectors, supporting C-suite leaders, Operations Managers, Facility Managers, and employees.
  • Conduct thorough, objective investigations for complex claims and complaints.
  • Advise on legal requirements, reducing legal risks, and ensuring regulatory compliance.
  • Develop and implement HR policies, processes, SOPs, tools, and programs.
  • Facilitate HR training to improve efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Manage HR projects from start to finish, including project management and implementation.
  • Provide performance management guidance, including coaching, career development, succession planning, disciplinary actions, and terminations.
  • Improve employee engagement, morale, culture, productivity, and retention.
  • Coordinate the administration and tracking of documentation and information across the employee lifecycle.
  • Analyze HR metrics and provide insights and recommendations.
  • Support OH&S policies and programs, disability management, leaves management, return to work protocol, and workplace accommodation.
  • Conduct needs analysis, research, and strategy development for HR initiatives.
  • Participate in peer reviews for HR team members.
  • Understand total rewards programs and strategies.
  • Stay updated with HR trends, best practices, proposed bills, and legislation changes.
  • Advocate for diversity and inclusion best practices.
  • Perform other duties as assigned to support the HR team.

Knowledge and Experience

  • 3-5+ years in a Human Resources role.
  • Experience in the manufacturing sector is an asset.
  • Understanding of Employment Standards and Human Rights legislation for multiple provinces.
  • Strong computer skills, proficiency with HR databases, and Microsoft Office.
  • Must pass a basic security clearance.
  • Reliable transportation and a valid driver’s license for travel to facilities.

Education

  • Post-secondary education in Human Resources (diploma/degree)
  • CPHR designation or working towards it is an asset.
