As Director of Operations, you’ll lead teams that are critical to our mission of creating the highest quality medicine that changes people’s lives. In this role, you’ll manage the operations and teams that cultivate, extract, process and manufacture our prescription medical cannabis products to meet strict quality standards and production targets. Additionally, this role oversees Quality, Inventory, and Facilities functions. Your teams will also be a critical part of developing new products and the manufacturing processes to produce them at scale.

Essential Functions:
  • Ensure that all production operations are performed safely and in strict accordance with TOCC requirements and procedures including facility & safety plans, standard operating procedures, regulatory compliance requirements and quality control plans. 

  • Lead managers and teams of operators and technicians who are responsible for cultivation, processing cannabis biomass through extraction and refinement, to formulation and manufacture of prescription medical cannabis finished goods. 

  • Own the Sales, Inventory & Operations Planning (SIOP) process end-to-end, including production forecasting, capacity planning, and cross-functional alignment with Sales and Finance to meet business objectives. 

  • Monitor capacity and staffing across all operations departments, ensuring both support business needs. 

  • Own industrialization and development of our production processes through application of good manufacturing practices (GMP), Lean, 6s, or other methods.  

  • Ensure maintenance of meticulous records for all operations activities including ERP database management to meet operational, financial reporting and regulatory compliance requirements. 

  • Drive continuous process improvement through identification and elimination of waste in our supply chain and value stream. 

  • Continuously pursue best cost and operating efficiency to meet production operational targets and objectives. 

  • Drive accountability within the team by creating discipline and consistency in operations activities and deliverables including standard work, leader standard work, and performance management tools. 

  • Coach and support staff to ensure individual and team success. Set goals and objectives, create development plans and oversee performance assessment process. 

  • Monitor and oversee inventory of consumables and ingredients for production operations through ERP database management, assessing physical inventory and generating purchase requests in partnership with the Inventory Manager 

  • Coordinate the Product Development team and functional managers to ensure formulation for manufacturability, production process planning, capacity, execution, equipment and process approval, product validation, and launch into mass production for new products and categories. 

  • Collaborate with Facilities & Quality teams to manage equipment cleaning, calibration, preventative maintenance, and service. 

  • Support continued facility expansion projects including equipment procurement, installation, validation, and production scale-up while maintaining uninterrupted operations in existing departments. 

  • Support ongoing improvement of QMS in partnership with Quality Manager. 

  • Serve as the primary on-site point of contact for Texas DSHS and DPS regulatory requirements, including state inspections, or other regulatory audits as required. 


Additional Responsibilities:
  • Identify, justify, and execute CAPEX initiatives and projects that support evolving business needs. 

  • Develop and maintain departmental KPIs and operational dashboards; present performance metrics and variance analysis to executive leadership on a regular cadence. 

  • Lead cross-functional root cause analysis and corrective action processes for quality escapes, production failures, or regulatory findings. 

  • Partner with HR on workforce planning, recruitment, and performance management across operations departments. 

  • Manage vendor and supplier relationships for production inputs, consumables, and capital equipment. 

  • Maintain open communication with Accounting and Finance teams to ensure understanding of current state operations and changes that may affect cost. 


What You’ll Need to Succeed:
  • 5+ years of industrial operations and manufacturing engineering experience. Industrial food & beverage, pharmaceutical, or cosmetic experience preferred. 

  • Bachelor’s or higher in Industrial, Mechanical or Manufacturing Engineering, Business, Operations Management, or equivalent work experience 

  • Strong organizational and time management skills 

  • Excellent interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills 

  • Preferred experience: 

  • Managing and commissioning capital equipment projects and facility expansions in an active production environment 

  • Leading teams and managing individual contributors 

  • Working in heavily regulated industries 

  • Working with laboratory and/or industrial processing equipment 

  • Developing new products and manufacturing processes
