About the Role

The Assistant Category Manager supports the Director of Spirits in the day-to-day execution and administration of multiple beverage categories, including Spirits, Beer, Ready-to-Drink, Non-Alcohol, and Accessories. This role plays a key part in ensuring accurate data management, timely execution of category initiatives, effective vendor coordination, and compliance across four retail banners in three provinces.

This is a highly detail-oriented role suited for someone who thrives in a fast-paced retail environment and enjoys turning strategy into execution through strong organization, analysis, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory & Supply Management

  • Compile warehouse distribution requirements and prepare weekly LTO buy sheets

  • Monitor inventory movement and proactively flag low or excess stock risks

Promotions & Performance Tracking

  • Populate flyer offer sheets and feature planners

  • Track private LTOs, coordinate invoicing, and collect post-promotion performance data

Category Administration

  • Process new item setup forms and maintain accurate product databases

  • Track delists, manage vendor submissions, and support category review timelines

Pricing & Margin Support

  • Submit approved pricing changes and monitor cost updates

  • Prepare margin and pricing reports to support category decisions

Projects & Compliance

  • Support timelines for category initiatives and business development projects

  • Maintain compliance documentation and assist with eCommerce and loyalty program initiatives

Qualifications

  • Post-secondary education in Business, Marketing, Finance, or a related field

  • 2+ years of experience in retail category management, merchandising, finance, procurement, or a related function

  • Strong analytical and organizational skills with advanced proficiency in Excel and data management tools

  • Proven ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong attention to detail and comfort working with large data sets
