About the Role We are seeking a Production Assistant to support day-to-day operations within our licensed cannabis processing and production facility. This position works under the direction of the Head of Production to carry out responsibilities related to pre-roll and extraction processes, packaging, inventory management, compliance, and team coordination. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a strong understanding of Cannabis Regulatory Agency (CRA) requirements, possess prior experience in cannabis production, and exhibit leadership potential in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Production & Inventory Control
Assist in the execution of daily production tasks including pre-roll preparation, extraction support, weighing, labeling, and packaging of cannabis products.
Maintain accurate batch records, ensure product traceability, and complete real-time data entry in METRC or other internal tracking systems in accordance with state requirements.
Support the development and tracking of product SKUs, batch IDs, and labeling requirements in compliance with CRA regulations.
Ensure all packaging, receiving, and shipping activities meet company SOPs and regulatory standards.
Operational Efficiency & Compliance
Monitor and ensure adherence to production schedules, operational KPIs (throughput, yield, labor efficiency), and departmental goals.
Partner with the Head of Production to allocate labor and equipment resources effectively based on production needs.
Conduct regular audits to verify product quality, compliance documentation, and regulatory accuracy.
Oversee and enforce workplace safety procedures, including sanitation protocols, PPE usage, and OSHA-aligned practices.
Ensure readiness for each shift, including preparation of materials, documents, and inventory.
Promptly report any material shortages, staffing issues, or process deviations to management.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or vocational training in manufacturing or cannabis operations preferred.
1โ2 years of experience in cannabis processing, production, or warehouse operations required.
Demonstrated knowledge of CRA regulations, seed-to-sale tracking (METRC), and general cannabis compliance practices.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to give and receive instruction clearly.
Working knowledge of production metrics and workflow optimization.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and operate with professionalism in a regulated environment.
Must be at least 21 years of age, and legally eligible to work in the State of Michigan under CRA regulations.
Ability to lift 50 lbs and work on your feet for extended periods in a warehouse or production environment.
